In the name of God Amen. In the year of our Lord 1463
the first day of the month of January I Thomas Meriell
of Wherstede of sound
[2] mind and healthy memory establish and dispose my will
in this manner. Item 1. I bequeath my soul to Almighty
God
[3] and Saint Mary glorious Virgin and all Saints my body
to be buried in the parish church of Wherstede at whose
high altar for ____
[4] offerings ___ ___ __ I leave five shillings. Item
I bequeath to the parish priest twenty pence. Item
[5] I bequeath to the same church twenty shillings for
the construction of a large lamp called a candelabrum.
Item I bequeath to the high altar of the church of

eight pence. Item I bequeath to each priest willing to
celebrate

my parents and benefactors for an entire year
